Hi Ian:

I’m researching Nils Magnus Jonsson again.  The attached should be his birth record 19 Sep 1806 in Högsby, Kalmar (although other records state his birth date as 16 Sep 1806).

I think I found his parents at Torrebo farm in 1806 in the same parish.  The father is Jonas Nilsson (born 1777) and mother Catharina or Catherine Persdotter (born 1781) although one record I found for her might have her last name as Carlsdotter.

I think Jonas Nilsson and Catharine Persdotter married on 3 Oct 1806 in Högsby, Kalmar....a couple weeks after Nils was born.

Questions: 

1) From the attached birth record, what does it say under his name.... ? Barnet (baby)

2) Do you think I have the correct marriage record for Jonas Nilsson and Catharine Persdotter on 3 Oct 1806?

With your previous help, I was able to trace Nils Magnus Jonsson until his death in August 1866 due to drowning. He lived most of his adult life on Hinshult farm in Kraksmala, Kalmar.

It says "Ista" - short for första meaning first child.
"barnet" means child not baby.

Hi Ian:

Here is the household record from 1806 in Högsby.  I found in the marriage book for Högsby a possible marriage for Jonas and Catherina in October 1806.  Let me know if this helps.

Yes I think it is the same Jonas and Catharina even though her surname is incorrect. It actually says Torsebo.

Here is the 3 Oct 1806 marriage record that I found.  Would it be odd that they married after Nils was born?  Would something have been written in his 19 Sep 1806 birth record....that his parents were not married?

Yes sometimes but I do know if they pay a fine and get married quickly they can get away with it.
