Thanks do they appear on the 1891 and 1901 census returns? This might give more insight as to the correct one?
I presumed that my grandmother was born in Nottingham or the Ilkeston area but Fanny`s birth record is escaping me at present.
Thanks again

Hi Ian

Afraid I have no access to 1891 or 1901 Censii, but perhaps someone else will have!

While I wondered if the unmarried Thomas was a bit old (he would have been in his mid-50's by 1892) it certainly isn't unheard of for a man to marry or remarry a younger wife and start family at that age..... The younger Thomas, his wife Elizabeth would have been 45/46 by 1892, presuming her 1881 age was correct, so while she was nearing the end of her ability to have children, again it's very much not unheard of  (I had one at 44, so I know 1st hand  ;D )

You say Fanny was born " b 1892/3/4 " - I don't know if you mean 3 April or 4 March  - but  have you seen this Birth registration entry on FREEBDM:

Births Mar  QTR 1892
Name: KNIGHT, Fanny   District:Basford  Vol:7b Page:168

Cheers  :D
