Hi Kerry

Unfortunately Rogue 23 who posted this query has never responded to any of the replies.

Where was your grandfather born?

Scotlands People shows a birth for an Ernest Roy Ivers in 1921 in Inverurie.

Scotlands People have a death in Inverurie in 1980 for the Ernest Roy Ivers born 1921.  There is a 1946 marriage in Inverurie to Helen Roger

The death reg for Ernest Roy Ivers who died 1983 Staffs shows his birthdate as 28.5.1923 - not 1921

Deaths June qtr 1983  Stoke on Trent Volume 30  Page 1688

Ernest Roy Ivers  59  Born 28 May 1923

There are only 2 births for the name Ernest Roy Ivers  on Scotlands People - 1903 & 1921 www.scotlandsPeople.gov.uk

See my reply above re the 1921 birth in Inverurie (Aberdeen)

Your Ernest Roy married in 1946 in Shropshire - the 1921 Ernest Roy married 1946 in Inverurie Aberdeen
Your Ernest Roy died 1983 Staffs with a birthyear of 1923  - the 1921 Ernest Roy died 1980 Inverurie aged 59

Do you have the 1946 marriage cert for your Ernest?

Possibility that a child was b 1946 Inverurie & may have married in 1970 in England

Also - his wife Helen Roger appears to have remarried in Aberdeen in 1969 as Helen Roger Ivers

Re the March qtr 1946 marriage to Mary Geraldine Gleeson.  A tree on Ancestry shows a birth cert for a child born October 1946 in Dundee.  Parents date of marriage is shown as 19.2.1946 Shrewsbury

No - it isn't a common name which makes it all the more puzzling.

We have 2 Ernest Roy Ivers - one clearly born 1921 married 1946 died 1980 - all events in Inverurie Aberdeen

Then we have an Ernest Roy Ivers b 1923 - but we don't know where -  who married in Shrewsbury in 1946 but had a child b Dundee the same year and who died in Staffordshire in 1983
