So does that narrow his death to between the late 1930s and early 1950s?  Have you found him on the 1939 register?

She isn't given as widowed on the 1911, so he could be around - maybe working somewhere else. In fact, if you are certain that you have a photo of him in the late 1930s he must be around!

Not them Ray - wrong part of the country and wrong occupation. If that's Sarah's death in 1940, I would guess she must be around Basford the year before.
