It does look likely that the Caroline Amelia Andrews whose death was registered in Wandsworth in 1960 was indeed the sister of George John Andrews; her executor was Frederick Arthur Andrews b 1904, son of George & Caroline's brother Walter.

So the Caroline North I mentioned seems to be a red herring, and it is back to the drawing board for the origins of Dora North.

avm228, following on this Dora North revised birth year, where did this later information come from? does it hint she was born elsewhere  if she is Dora North line 25 aged 8 in Guilford Street in the 1911 census she has parents not known  and she could be an inmate of the Foundling Hospital.. In 1926, consequent upon the decision of the Governors to remove the Foundling Hospital to the country, the site was sold and the children were provisionally accommodated at St. Anne's Schools, Redhill. (fn. 9) The new hospital was built at Berkhamsted. The Foundling Hospital is commerated on the same site as Coram ...... Field Guilford Street.

Christopher Vokes marriage to  Dora North if the correct Dora North
from again freebmds website we have possible children
Births Sep 1922   (>99%)
Vokes    Christopher L    North    St.Geo.H.Sq.    1a   679
Births Sep 1924   (>99%)
Vokes    Ernest P    North    Lambeth    1d   446
Births Sep 1927   (>99%)
Vokes    Margaret    North    Lewisham    1d   1476
Births Dec 1928   (>99%)
Vokes    Lillie E    North    Lewisham    1d   1366

As a result of the Lewisham link, this looks like Christophers death
Deaths Sep 1956   (>99%)
Vokes    Christopher    age 56    Lewisham    5d   65
I hope this speculative version is the right family

I am pretty sure Dora North who married Christopher Vokes is a different person from the one being sought by amberley.  She is probably, as has been suggested, the child who was an inmate of the Foundling Hospital, as opposed to the one found in the Lambeth household of George John Andrews.

Dora Vokes was born 1903 using the free index to the 1939 Register.

She was born 1.1.1903 according to a passenger list when she travelled from Canada to the UK in 1957.

Her second marriage was to Alfred W Forster in St Pancras in 1963.  She seems to have died as Dora Forster in Shepway, Kent in 1976 as Dora Forster - birthdate 1.1.1903.

If she was an inmate of the Foundling Hospital, she probably was not born as Dora North and 1.1.1903 may have been a guessed or invented birthdate.

The Vokes marriage does not fit with the information provided by amberley: a 1907 birth in St George Hanover Square or Lambeth and living with George John Andrews in Lambeth in 1911. A marriage in 1922 is implausible since Dora would have been only 15 and she had moved away from Hanover Square.

We know via GRO the birth of a Dora North mmn Andrews was registered in 1907. We know via Family Search that a Dora North was living with George John Andrews' family in Lambeth in 1911. The marriage of Dora North to John Denmark in 1927 fits well in terms of age (20) and location (Lambeth). That's the path I would follow.
