Ford family/Putnam family mystery

I am trying to uncover some interesting things about my family. In Massachusettes, circa 1880, a house was sold to a married woman[Mary] for $1. The going rate was $1750. She was married to Michael Ford, from Ireland.
 Any info would be greatly appreciated.
