Differing details on the same certificate?

I am trying to find my friends mother.

On my friends birth certificate the details seem normal but on his brothers (who passed away as a child) the mother's name is Veronica Barbara Anne SOUTHERN, but against the informant column it says V.Thurston Mother below the fathers name. Surely these are the same person?

It is all a mystery anyway as this person doesn't seem to exist and lists address as a home for unmarried mothers and babies in London, she wasn't around much longer after the two births

Hard to say without seeing it  :-\

You say "below the fathers name" so was the father called Thurston and V.Thurston is her married name  ???

Illegitimacy is suggested with 2 names in the informants box.

The father had to be present in these cases for his name to be entered onto a birth cert.

Maybe the mother was trying to bluff her way through the birth registration as a married woman and got caught out.

Again, hard to say without seeing the cert but please don't post it here as that would breach our copyright policy.

Was this birth registered in Sheffield 1950?

Is there a possibility that this person is still alive - if so, her name needs to be removed?

The birth was registered in 1966 in Paddington

The child was Gary Dennis consterdine and was born at Paddington hospital. The mother was as I first stated but the informants were D Consterdine address given in Nottingham and V. Thurston mother, her address 141 west end lane Hampstead (the unmarried mothers home) on the 1966 and 1967 electoral register they are shown as married in nottingham. I can find no marriage or a suitable birth for the mother. She may have been from the north east and "working" between the north, Notts and London (I'll leave your imagination to decide on the nature of her work......

This person could be alive but as I believe these names may be fictitious? The father and child are no longer with us

If you feel the need to remove that is fine but this person doesn't appear to exist my question was more about why two names for the same person
