1851 census lookup, Aberdare: Williams & Davies
« on: Monday 01 August 05 15:35 BST (UK) »
Hi,

at the weekend I received the marriage cert for my ggm (Mary Jane Williams, nee Davies), born in 1883 in Cwmbach.

I had already found her, hence her parents (David Davies and Emma Williams) in the 91 and 1901 census, and on receiving the certificate, found Emma‘s parents (John and Christiana Williams) in 81, 71 and 61.

On the BMD, I found a marriage index for a Christiana Davies and John Williams in March qtr 1882 in the Merthyr district. This ties in with their first child, Thomas, being born in 1853.

So far, so good.

Could someone please be so good as to look up John and Christiana in the 1851 census?

Consistent in the 61 and 71 census, John was born in 1823 in Redruth, Cornwall, occupation: Cordwainer; and Christiana born in 1830 in Brecon Town, Breconshire. I assume that although they are not married, they are at that time living in Aberdare.

Many thanks

D
