1824 diary extract. (pp 17, 22, 26) - Help please
« on: Wednesday 06 September 17 21:43 BST (UK) »
Hi, I would be very grateful for any help deciphering the words and initials in the following extract please, shown in red below:

p17 (in Leghorn/Livorno):
etc came along side of us. Sent for my letters, the farce most ludicrous. Wrote long letter to [M.D.].
Monday. Determined that we should remain 10 days in quarantine. Hopes blighted. Wrote [S.N.H.] detailing our voyage and our abominable predicament here, requesting him to use his [wanted] exertions in making it public.

p22 (Leghorn/Livorno):
...the vessels lie out at anchor, which are laden and discharged by means of lighters, three lazarettos, which by the [bye] [esks] conceive were in general occupied from [the treatment and imprisonment].

p26 (Pisa):
The view of this city has a good effect at a distance the dome being much like St Pauls, London from Highgate. This is an ancient [brau]. Town divided by the river Arno which traverses the city in the form of a crescent, dividing it nearly into 2 equal parts. Over the river are 3 bridges, [theset ad in pc finitofin] county. One of the bridges said to be of marble is much overrated, the exterior of the arches only being edged with that material (said to be the finest in Europe).

Many thanks, Simon
