There are coats still traveling with fairground equipment, I have a lot of friends who are showman I'm sure there around the Carlisle area. You should contact the Showmans Guild of Great Britain Scottish section or the North of England Section see if they can help you out. They will have a record of all members past and present and what equipment they operate 90% of showman are members

Hope this helps

Thankyou, but am puzzled at his declaration of being a "bachelor" when we have evidence of at least five children with previous wife Mary/Maria Jordan, is it same person? Age also a slight concern, doesn't tie up with death in 1898.....good story teller?

Hi Wendy, don't know if you are aware that there is a descendant of Angelinas with a profile on Geni. They also have the names Coats and Downie listed

Is there any way of getting this information without joining another geneology site? Free trials always catch me out and I find myself with membership of numerous sites!
