How do I prove it please?
« on: Thursday 29 July 04 17:26 BST (UK) »
I have a Louisa Caroline Hughes, who married Augustus Ceaser
Bradshaw, yes really!!  in Dec 1891.

I really thought that Louisa would be my grandmother's sister, thus leading me to my great grand father William Hughes,  his wife, not sure of her name yet , but I think it was Isabella, and my gran, Sarah, and any other siblings, probably a Jack (John) and perhaps a Ciss(ie).

How ever, Louisa appears to be the daughter of David Hughes,  living at 32 Tunnel Road, Liverpool, in 1881.

The address is certainly one that is relevant, as my mother was
born at  no 116 when Louisa and Augusus were resident there.

I think David might have been William's brother, thus making Louisa a cousin. I know there is a definite family connection.

My question is , how do I make that connection?
Hughes is such a common name in Liverpool, do I get Louisa's
Birth certificate, find out her mother's maiden name, and then
trace her marriage to David, and hopefully I think I may be able to Find his parents, and maybe a brother called William.

Does any of this make sense!!

I feel as if my Hughes line as disappeared from existence, and may have been left off all census details, but they DID live in the
West Derby area of Liverpool, Maybe they were wealthier than
we thought, and went on holiday at these times.

Thanks everyone.

Hi,

Just wondering do you have Louisa marriage certificate because that would have her father's name on it.

If is said William and you know what year Louisa was born you can order her birth certificate putting the father's name as William, I would not put a mother's name down if you are not sure.

I know when I ordered certificate and I am not sure of the date they will usually look a year either side of the date I put.

There is a Louisa on the 1881 census living with a father by the name of William but they are living at Salford Lancashire.

Regards Jacquie.

Have you been able to find her on the 1891 census - she may have been living with her parents, or other siblings.

On the 1891 Census:
RG12/2994
West Derby: Folio 32, Page 5.

Louisa C Hughes is living with her mother Mary who is now a Widow, all the information other than this is the same as the 1881Census.
