Casey family in Queensland
« on: Wednesday 08 November 17 21:14 GMT (UK) »
I am hoping  to confirm the parents of Leslie Edward Casey born in Queensland 22 July 1917. This was the date on AIF details for his service in WW2. His NOK was noted as W McKenna which fits with my research. However after searching the Queensland BMD site I cannot find his birth at all. Is there another way of finding his parents names?
Thank you

Do you know if he was married at all?  Marriage certificate should show parents' names.

How do you know he was born in Qld 1917?

In the article above, it says L.E. CASEY is brother of Mrs W C KOWITZ.

Doris Isabel CASEY married William Charles KOWITZ in 1935

Doris Isabel CASEY was born 1912 with parents Edward Chaplin CASEY and Eliza Jane RAPLEY
Gladys Mary CASEY was born 1910 with same parents

Gladys married William Charles Hugh McKENNA in 1932

It looks like parents of Leslie are Edward Chaplin CASEY and Eliza Jane RAPLEY

adding : obit to Edward Chaplin CASEY says he has 3 children http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article95477324

Thank you to all who replied. I now have confirmed another relative. My thoughts were that he was a son of Edward Chaplin Casey . I have found someone of the same name married to Lillian Alice ? who  lived in various places including Mt Isa. Hoping it is the same person.
Thank you again. Wonderful help. Also thank you for the information from Trove.

Edward enlisted with the AIF and left Australia in 1915, returning in 1919.

With two daughters and then a five year gap until a son was apparently born, I would want to compare DNA if Leslie was my ancestor.

http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/Veteran.aspx?serviceId=A&veteranId=6958

(the other one born 1919 was not)
