I did wonder if he was killed at work, because of the location of death. There may be something in the Newspapers -- although I cannot see anything for that location on the Railway Accidents Archive website.

Maybe George just died there of natural causes and it wasn't a rail accident

Oh well found Maureen. What a shame for George and his family --- the probate record actually said he died at 'Shunter's Cabin, Stanningley'.

So when George Larkins (later Larkins Hawkins) was born in 1868, his mother, Mary Ann Larkins probably named him after her father -- George Larkins.

I was rather hoping that George Hawkins was her 'beau' at that time and she named her baby after him - and then they married later. At the moment though the father isn't known.

It would be useful if affiliation orders have survived for this period at Huntingdon Archives. I have had a look, but the dates covered seem much earlier. Might be worth an enquiry by John (the original poster) -- or maybe a look through quarter sessions records just to see if Mary Ann was brave enough to bring a case against the father.

An enormous Thank You to ALL responders on this thread ! All so very helpful ! I Have a newspaper memorial from Stanningley,England that states that George Larkins Hawkins did in fact go to heaven from work in 1923 as a Railwayman. My Grandmother Lily Hampton had the reference with her in Canada.

Records from Yorkshire census have a discrepency with George's 1868 place of birth.1891(Tyersall) states HUN Eaton.1901 states (Pudsey) states HAM Eaton Socon.1911(Pudsey) states HUN Eaton. Also it is sad news to see that he was only 7 when his Mother Mary went to heaven.I had seen something else prior that led me to Saint Neots also.It looks as if Saint Neots and Eaton are twin or adjoined communities...so here I am.

Much gratitude for the imfo provided on the 1889 Ossett Marriage for George and Mary(Noble) and Also his earlier life upbringing with what looks like his Aunt Sarah and her husband John Ibbott. It is interesting that my Grandmother Lily looks to have had Parents and Grandparents named George and Mary.

Hi on the offchance is he the George Hawkins aged 13 Nephew b Eaton to a Thomas & Sarah Ibbott in 1881 census?
Census ref RG11/1655/21/2
Keyboard86

Just filling a few extra bits from the above 1881-

Thomas Ibbott   40
Sarah Ibbott   36
Rhoda Ibbott   2 b.    Gamlingay, Cambridgeshire
George Hawkins   13

The name should read Hibbett as per Rhoda's birth (1878, Caxton) Her mother's maiden name was Hawkins. Therefore it would appear that the above 1881 is the correct one  :)

JJ

Just completing marriage:-

Thomas Ibbott to Sarah Hawkins Sept qtr 1872 Caxton 3b 784

EDIT Sorry missed complete marriage details by Galium.

George Larkins Hawkins b.1868....His Father ? George Hawkins b.circa 1841 married his mother Mary Ann December 4/1872 when George was only 4. Records indicate Mary passed on in 1874 when George was only 6 or 7. I can't yet find records as to when George b.circa 1841 passed on. I wonder if George's father ? might have passed on around the same time as his mother Mary Ann. By the time George Larkins Hawkins was 13 he was residing with his Aunt Sarah(George b.circa 1841 sister) and Uncle Thomas Ibbott.
