THOMAS TOOLEY
« on: Thursday 04 August 05 11:45 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find anything on Thomas Tooley.
He was born about 1718, buried in 1770 in Bletchingdon.
I think he had a brother called Henry who had a son called Thomas.
That is all i know.
Any help would be grateful.

Hi Lyn ...

I had a dig around the OFHS's Marriage Index for your TOOLEYs.  This is the only likely entry for Thomas (born c1718):

19 AUG 1749 - Thomas TOOLEY (Shipton) to Mary ELLINES at Swinbrook

(The next Thomas TOOLEY marriage is not until 1769, which is probably a little late.)

This could be brother Henry's marriage:

24 SEP 1755 - Henry TOOLY to Mary HORWOOD at Bicester

Re. Henry's son Thomas, there are several Thomas TOOLEY marriages around the right time, but this is the only one in Bletchingdon:

06 APR 1797 - Thomas TOOLEY to Ann HALL

Hope this may be of some help!

Hi Pennie,
Thank you for your reply.
The first Thomas is unlikley as he would have only been 11 in 1749.
The second Thomas is more likely, and the third Thomas i have.

thanks again for your help.

Hi Lyn ...

Have I missed something - or just got confused?  You say that your Thomas TOOLEY was born c1718.  This would make him 31 (not 11) at the time of his (possible) marriage to Mary ELLINES in 1749.  More likely, I would have thought, than the next TT marriage when he would have been 51!

Hi Pennie and choeld,

Sorry pennie at the time of reading your reply i knocked my tea over my papers, and read it wrong. Yes he was born in 1718. I am really sorry for the confusion my mistake.

Sorry Choeld I do not have a Hannah Tooley  in my tree but on saying that the Thomas that was born in 1718 could have had a child called Hannah, I have not found that out yet.
I have only got him with his brother Henry at the moment.
