Help check grandfather's father's name!

Hi,
I am doing my family tree and need to confirm my gt. grandfather's father. I think I may have wrong details, so need to check I am going in right direction.
I am looking for the father of Joseph Brocklesby b. about 1854 Wrangle, Lincolnshire. who was Married to a Harriet Gray b. about 1852.

The safest way is to get a copy of his marriage certificate with fathers name - or his birth certificate to get both parents names 

In 1871 he is a servant age 17 so not living with parents.

Joseph Brocklesby baptised 18 June 1854 in Wrangle, parents William and Mary. William was a labourer.

William Brocklesby married Mary Motley in Wrangle 26 May 1851. Both of full age. His occupation Labourer, his father Thomas Brocklesby, Labourer. Her father Joseph Motley, Labourer. The witnesses were Harriet Brocklesby and Joseph Chapman. Joseph witnesses several marriages so is probably a Church official.

Joseph/Harriets Marriage is on FreeREG 08 Feb 1877
His Father is JOSEPH a Labourer and hers JAMES a Labourer.

So something strange here, Vicar made a mistake?

There is a Joseph B living in Wrangle 1851 Census with Wife Eliza and children.

Joseph born c 1822 Leverton and Eliza born c 1821 Leake
Cant find Eliza in 1861 Census  but Joseph is at home with children.
Eliza was nee REESON

Cant find a Joseph with Mothers mn Reeson.

There are 2 c 1854

Hi, thank you for your replies,

I have his father down as William Baker Brocklesby b.about 1826 Leverton,Lincs.
I have his mother as a Mary Morley b. about 1824 in Leverton, Lincs
fathers name: Joseph.

I had come across the name Motley before but I can not really confirm that is the correct name?

The William Baker Brocklesby doesn't agree with the the father named at marriage in 1877.

So it's either a mistake on the marriage declaration.

Or it's a polite fiction, and you and you have the wrong birth/baptism .
