Middle name HOGAN, surname STOKES
« on: Thursday 04 August 05 22:22 BST (UK) »
My family search has brought me to Pembrokeshire for the 1st time, and I'm curious because the middle name Hogan and last name Stokes keep coming up together. Is there a known local association of the 2 names, or perhaps some local history to Hogan?

My ancestor is Mary Hogan Stokes, born about 1848 in Pembroke area. I don't yet know her parents (any clues??), but I see the combination of middle name Hogan - last name Stokes in various Census listings in Pembrokeshire for both males and females. I haven't yet delved in enough to find out if there is a family linkage to these individuals.

Anyone got any knowledge of the family or background to Hogan?

Consider this item closed. I have just found all the information via the volunteers at "Cenquest Census Research Wales" website.

The middle name "Hogan" that appeared for some of the 10 children in the family was in fact the mother's maiden surname.
