The marriage of Anthony and Bridget indicates they were from Rathmore so still the same area.

Birth of James McGuinness 1873:
Crossmolina District. Ballina Superintendent's District.
Parents Thomas & Catherine (formerly Brogan). Residence Bally-----. Thomas was a landholder.
This seems to be the man who married Catherine Leonard in 1910. If he's the correct one he was in his mid 30s at time of his marriage, not a septuagenarian marrying a woman 50 years his junior.  ;D

Just crossed it off my "to do" list!
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

I couldn't read the residence where Thomas & Catherine McGuinness lived at time of birth of James. All I could make out was Bally.
There was an older brother, Michael born 1867. The marriage may have been pre 1864. None of the 3 Catherine Brogan marriages in Ballina matched any Thomas McGuinness marriage.

There is also Mary baptised 3 August 1876 as Mary McGuiness but registered as Maria McGiness.

Catholic registers site is down but marriage was February 1866
Thomas Mcginnis and Catharine Brogan
The marriage is too early to be seen in full on Irish Genealogy, you would have to send for the certificate.
