Hi, Not sure if anyone can help with my research, but worth a shot.
I have trawled all the online databases available on Adelaide but have drawn a blank. I live in England!
I am trying to find 4 children who it appears were entered into the asylum. This is what i have.
Solomon RICHARDS arrived on the Aurora in May 1856.
Wife Eliza (Wldon/Waldron/Walden)
children
Anna or Hannah Waldon/Waldron/Walden RICHARDS brn 1846
Fanny RICHARDS brn 1849
Robert John Waldon/Waldron/Walden RICHARDS brn 1852
Eliza RICHARDS brn 1856 (in Adelaide)
It seems about 1 month (possibly) after arriving in Adelaide Eliza gave birth to a daughter, Eliza.
Another researcher has it that the mother Eliza died 3 weeks after giving birth. I haven't been able to find anything on this death from here in England. The same researcher the has it that the 3 daughters were entered into the asylum. (19 July 1856?) Again I can't find evidence of this from here.
The researcher also says the Hannah/Anna and her brother chose to be known by their mothers maiden name which would have been Waldron or Waldon or Walden, and says maybe the other 2 girls were known by this name at some point.
From the Trove I have found 3 court articles and it seems that Solomon kept Robert with him for a while before leaving him with a Mr David Hope around the end of 1856 promising to pay for the boys keep. Mr Hope it seems couldn't afford to keep him and wanted him entered into the asylum. The court at first wouldn't do this. The 3 articles make for some sad reading.

He was eventually entered into the asylum.
I have found a marriage for Solomon after also finding another court article in the Trove.
South Australian Register 21 January 1860.
It appears Solomon married a widow (with 6 children) in May 1858 Adelaide but then deserted this wife in the August. She was petitioning for an order to protect her property from Solomon in 1860.
From here on I know Solomon married again Eliza Margaret Catherine Dormer 14 Oct 1861 in Sydney.
What a man lol.
I would dearly love to find these children in the asylum (my own proof) and what became of them as they are my link to my family (via their mother) but can fin no trace of them apart from Hannah/Anna whom i believe married a William Price then a Henry Rookley Parker (or maybe John Henry Rookley Parker). I cannot find her death though. She was living Maryborough and Millchester in Queensland at some point.
Any help much appreciated
