Help deciphering Co. Laois place name on marriage entry required please

Hi all,

The attached clip is a segment of the 1846 marriage of my x 3 Great grandparents Loughlin Hughes and Anne Dunne, which took place in Portarlington.

It states that Loughlin's place of residence was (interpreted as) 'Emo and Ballintogher', which rings true, however I'm struggling to decipher Anne's place of residence.

Any assistance is much appreciated thanks.

A lot of these marriages have comments about payment, could it be that?
I was scrolling around to see if I could find the 'placename' again on another page but no luck so far
did find that Loughlin and Anne were witnesses to James and Margarets marriage later

I'm maybe not understanding your question, but all I see is 'Emo & Ballin' (superimposed with the number '64') continued onto the next line with '-toher'.

I was even wondering what the dash  before the 'word' could mean.

It is weird how the eyes and brain work on these things, in this instance that is what I immediately saw without even thinking about it, whereas on countless other occasions I have strained for ages in vain, only to want to kick myself when someone posts the obvious solution, I suppose that's what different / fresh eyes is all about in these cases.

I think expectation is part of it, on this one the idea that there was two place names was in my head when I looked at it so that's what I thought I saw.
I remember posting a occupation I couldn't read.
It was very oblivious it said teacher, but I just couldn't see it as I was expecting miner or similar.

Guess it's the same way as magicians and con artists work.

Having looked at it again,  I had missed the continuation below.

The text entry for place of residence states ‘Emo and Ballintogher’ these being two separate places as has been pointed out.

On the presumption that the marriage took place in the bride’s parish, this may indicate that Loughlin was from Emo, and Anne from Ballintogher.

They appeared to live in Ballintogher after their marriage, as their first born was born there.

I think that this solves this
