Anyone having trouble with Ancestry Free Day today?
« on: Friday 23 February 18 13:06 GMT (UK) »
Often I click on records marked 'free' and either get a splash screen of random records or an invitation to subscribe. (I do have an account, as specified) Many records are OK, even though you have to do screen grabs as the download option is disabled.

I have deleted all my Ancestry cookies.

Is anyone else experiencing this?  I have submitted a support request for the 'splash' problem.

Martin

I'm a subscriber and I often get random records!! Sometimes they even ask me to subscribe, even when logged in. If it doesn't work for those who pay then there's no hope for freebies!
Happy searching.

Very rarely are all Ancestry records available in a free deal! ;D

Have you checked the small print?

Rayard, thanks.

KGarrad, it's very odd.  I am OK for a while, then I have to delete the cookies and it's OK, even on previously unavailable records.  Often it just displays Scottish records.  I'm being very selective, and only doing what I would class as reasonable use.  It is odd that I seem alone here, but Rayard's comment gives me hope.

Thanks again,

Martin

I assume you are looking at British/Irish records?
They are the only ones included in the Free Weekend.  ;D

KG, yes, but thank you.  That's why I'm a bit puzzled when searching for E&W records I get Scottish ones.

As mentioned before, even subscribers get random records. I often get records from the US, even when I've specified the UK. Presumably you are getting Scottish records as the free weekend is for  UK and Irish records.

Are you logged in .co.uk or .com?

I’ve notice a huge difference when logged into the different servers

I'm on .co.uk.

I can see no logic in what I can/not do.
