Sibthorpe Eliza & Rosina
« on: Tuesday 27 February 18 10:18 GMT (UK) »
My wife's grt aunt Eliza Sibthorpe (1869 Romford) and grt grandmother Rosina Sibthorpe (1854 Romford) were sisters (stating the obvious). I have Eliza in the 71, 81 & 91 census still at family home, Gidea Hall Stables, Hare St, Romford. But then I lose her.
I have a marriage record which states - William Pomroy spouse Sibthorpe, other Rosina Sibthorpe dated 1917 1st quarter 4a 722 in Romford.
I cannot view the record, so not certain if the spouse is Eliza. Nor do I know where/when this William was born or indeed, what happened to him (see next para). WW1 ?
I also know (we have them on a captioned photo) that she later married a George Winn. Of him we know absolutely nothing other that he died before 1946. WW2 ? My wife actually lived with Eliza at Belvoir castle cottages for short period before Eliza died, she can't remember what year the death was (1945 - 1950 ?). We know Eliza was in Bottesford prior to that. We have references to Rose Cottage and/or Walnut Cottage but nothing positive. She came into a considerable amount of money around that time, so assume that George Winn had died and the cottage sold and she moved in with the family at Belvoir where wife's grandfather was the Duke's chauffeur.
Would greatly appreciate any input from anyone.
Many thanks,
Mike

If Rossina was Grt Grandma,
Then who was the child leading ultimately to your wife? (who, when & where)

Rosina Sibthorpe married William Parnham. Helen Laura Parnham was Rosina's daughter (1 March 1892 Weymouth Mews, London).
I have all my wife's line with no problems.
The issue has arrisen from my wife wanting more detail of who exactly was 'Aunt Bim sometimes Jim' aka Aunt Winn who she fondly remembers but didn't actually know who she was, she always had in her mind that she was one of Rosina's sisters but which one? This week I found a photo of her  previously hidden away that had 'Aunt Jim - Winn' written on the back, thus solving the puzzle.
In my tree I already had Eliza Sibthorpe married to George Winn but had no idea who he was.
As I could find no marriage record for an Eliza Sibthorpe to a George Winn, I decided she must have been previously married and I found the William Pomroy marriage. Still can't find a marriage to George though.

I'm confused how the 1917 ROSINA sibthorp marriage is relevant to finding an ELIZA sibthorp marriage ?
