1851 census lookup - Eliza Barker Wellington or Dawley
« on: Saturday 06 August 05 12:45 BST (UK) »
Hi

can anyone find for me in 1851 (or 41) Eliza Barker born 1838/9 in Wellington - according to later census, fathers name Thomas Barker.  I have a slight problem because  I have found a baptism that nearly fits in 1838 for Eliza d/o Thomas Barker & Mary Osborn in Madeley - but on all the census returns she says she was born in Wellington (from 1861 onwards she is with her husband Richard Millington in Dawley), and Madeley is not really that close to Wellington - any help to confirm or otherwise this baptism would be very appreciated

Hello Debbie,

Do you know the occupation of Elizas father Thomas?

I have found an entry on the 1841 Wellington Census, there is a Thomas aged 47 and an Eliza aged 6. Thomas is a Miner, possible mother Sarah aged 40

Unfortunately, I only have a transcription, but it looks like 2 or more families to me. I can let you have the details if you think it could be your family.

Jean :)
