Wow that's great dathai, I didn't realise they were married in little bray parish as well as buried there.

I would have liked to share an image of their gravestone but i am unable to upload an image.

The marriage record really confirms so much for me.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread, its immensely helpful

just spotted something on Family Search
the birth for Christopher 1873 dosent come up but one for 1874 does
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F51M-NG4

there is a death 1873 Athy Christopher Keenan age 0

and a second birth 1874 at Dry Dock St
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1874/03135/2149923.pdf

the baptism for the 1st Christopher is on the Athy N L I film but the pages for 1874 are completely faded or blank.

Hmm i wonder Annie Connor
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Wicklow/Bray_No__2/Wyndham_Park_Road/892226/

Mary Keenan
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Kildare/Athy_Town/Convent_Lane/536059/

Mary Keenan died March 1916 at Convent Lane she was registered as Elizabeth Keenan
side note by Registrar re Statutory Declaration made in May by someone?Kelly of Convent Lane that it should read Mary Keenan
However the informant was one Annie O'Connor of 4 Windham Park,Bray
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1916/05251/4455659.pdf

Thanks dathai,

I found a record for a Christopher keenan on familysearch.org for 1873
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FGY1-B8N

The difference in birth year Christopher Keenan, in the two below records you found is interesting.

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1873/03209/2176585.pdf

and

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1874/03135/2149923.pdf

There is a one year in difference between both records. Both records are from Athy. The parents names are the same but the addresses
differ. I wonder if they are the same people, its uncanny. perhaps they moved address.

There is a shrewleen lane in athy in County Kildare.

I cant find any information for a dry dock street though.

I cant quite make out the surname of the person mentioned in the "residence on informant" section for the 1873 birth register; Mary something...

The birth record for 1874 is promising, I wonder if it is indicating Mary Keenan (formerly walsh) as the informant or if this Mary keenan is Michael Keenans Mother.

I cant think for any links for an Annie Connor or Mary Keenan, I will look into it though and see if anyone in the family can make a connection. The Kelly of Convent Lane you mention might hold a connection. My grandmothers side are Kelly's. I will see if i can dig anything up regarding her.

To add something of the family story that i know of, in the hopes it sheds light on some other nugget of information:

"Christopher was the coachman to Elizabeth Keatley and her former husband in Athy Co.Kildare.
Her former husband who I believe was Leslie M CONNOR, was a town surveyor/engineer. He was wealthy and I know he was head of the hunt.
After Elizabeths first husband died, Christopher Keenan and Elizabeth Keatley became an item. They bought a pub in Tipperary. I don't have specifics, a pub name or more accurate
location. I know that they ran out of money though and it was after this that they moved to Bray Co.Wicklow, where they resided at 15 dock terrace, Harbour View."

There are many discrepencies in the majority of records I have looked at, but I feel this could be a result of numerous factors including, registrars typos as well as
intentionally giving different information, perhaps for tax avoidance/benefit reasons (i'm guessing but wouldnt be surprised).

The children that Christopher Keenan and Elizabeth Keatley defineatly had were as follows:

Michael Keenan (Born 2 Dec 1902/Died 25 Nov 1956)

Thomas Keenan (Born 6 Mar 1904/Died 6 Nov 1989)

Joseph Keenan (my grandfather) (Born 13 Apr 1908/Died 6 Dec 1971)

William Keenan (Born 26 Oct 1905/died -?

Christopher (kit) Keenan (Born 19/11/1898/died - ?)

Elizabeth Keenan (born/died - unsure)

Thanks again for your posts, the information is fantastic.

I have attached a picture of the Gravestone of Christopher and Elizabeth as well as a picture of Elizabeth when she was older.

1881 Kildare Observer   Michael Keenan summoned twice May and November 1881
re maintenance of his son John in St Parick's reformatory,Upton, which he is unable to pay.
asked his occupation he is a'' rag collector'' earning between 5s and 10s a week of which he pays 2s rent a week
His son John is about 14 in 1881 and he has implored the Lord Lieutenant to release him
John born Tullamore 1866
top one on page
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1866/03518/2294175.pdf
his wording can be confusing by times
as in one case he say's he has 3 children and in the other 5 children the eldest 9yrs
he was also asked if he had no one to help him and he said the only boy i had is off in Africa fighting for the Queen of England he cant  be referring to Christopher as this is 1881.
