Added - and info

http://www.postcodearea.co.uk/postaltowns/glasgow/g2/     -  :-\ :-X

Looking at the map George Square is in G2  my father worked in the Inland Revenue just off George Square - perhaps they moved nearer his work. Otherwise I don't have a clue :-\

hi

I don't think it is G2. Modern postcodes weren't around in 1944.

Could be C2 - C standing for city centre! Sorry cannot make out street name.

Large cities had a type of postcode before the advent of the full ones in the 1970/80s.

I recall living in W1, W 2 in London. N2 in Newcastle and AB2 in Aberdeen.

Added - I see G2 = C2 area

I'll stick with my first thought when reading it Albert Rd . Number 70,78,79 or 90,98, 99.

This G business is modern, it would be NSEW etc' & C. How about Albert Drive, which was in S1, Albert Road was S2.

@ Cupcake, your father worked in  C1

Skoosh.

Just had another look and see that the top loop of the G in Glasgow was masquerading as a g or y in the street address. Agree that it's Albert  :)

Add - can't see the letter before the 2 being and S though  :-\

I've lightened and sharpened it and enlarged.

Skoosh.

The last two letters do look a tad like a "DR" the more I look at it I think it might be.It's the nearest so far. It's the S2 I'm not sure about

Thank you for pointing out my father worked in C1
