I think its correct, cupcake.

I think Bethia had a sister, Emma (born c1825) who married an Edward Kidman in 1849. And it was probably this Edward who stated he was the brother-in-law of Bethia. Emma looks to have died in 1874 and Edward remarried in 1875, to Susan Kidman.

I couldn't find Emma in 1841.

The executor of Edith Kidman, Bethia's mother, was a nephew named Edward Kidman, of Shefford. It seems likely to be the same Edward that married Emma.

Hello Cuffie,

Thank you so much for all this wonderful information, it is very much appreciated  :) It now makes sense why in the Newspaper, Edward is said to be a nephew of Bethia. Just a pity she hadn't gone to stay with her mother Edith or with Edward. One of life's mysteries.

It is a very sad read.
