Hi all, her pob on 1901 looks something like Borsbeck or similar?

Just beat me to it Keyboard, but she's down as being 30 in 1891, 25 in 1901 and a free search of the 1911 has her as 35.

Boo

The 1891 census is for a different person - Mary Jane (nee Lax)

Burial -

Mary Jane Robinson
Age:   30
Burial - 20 Aug 1891, South Hetton, Durham

JJ

Yes, apologies, I've just noticed that, so it was a second marriage for him

Yes Carlyle is older than the Mary he is with in 1901 and 1911 so he could have been married twice.
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

This has been the thing that's thrown me too! Carlyle was married twice, first to a Mary Jane Lax then to Mary Susannah Hunter and there's just too many bloomin' Mary's!

I have a lady who married 3 times, each time her husband was called Robert! Maybe they had pillowcases with names embroidered so they looked for a new spouse who would match them :-)

1881 -

Joseph J. Hunter   38

Annie Elizabeth Hunter   10
Mary Sussanah Hunter   5 b. Boosbeck, Yorkshire
Edward Moore Hunter   8

This could be correct however the marriage cert would be your best option.
