Hi Cazza

Polly can be a diminutive of Mary, or a name in it's own right.

That's really helpful isn't it?!

Typing Polly into FindMyPast and clicking on nmae variants the only name which comes up is Margaret.

Appleby is in the East Ward registration District and there are only two Margarets who come up on the GRO site or FreeBMD

Margaret Elizabeth Dec 1910 East Ward 10b 691 mmn Gowling

Margaret Isobel Dec 1913 East Ward 10b 1347 mmn Burra

Can't find a birth for Arnold which fits either of those two above. They may have lived in Appleby but where they born there.
