Yes, second thoughts may be in order. I cannot find a Wishaw in New Brunswick and for the life of me cannot figure out what the NB would stand for. There is a least one Wishaw in England, but NB??

This article raises an interesting point. My wife's father's name was James Henry DONNELLY. His father was Henry James DONNELLY. Our Quartermaster is James DONNELLY and quite likely had Henry as a second name. For this reason, and because of this alternating naming pattern in the family, I don't think we should give up on our Wishaw DONNELLY.
NB..what could that possibly be?

Naming patterns ........ ::)

Scottish naming tradition has it that (with some variations according to family):

1st son - paternal grandfather
2nd son - maternal grandfather
3rd son - father
1st daughter - maternal grandmother
2nd daughter -  paternal grandmother
3rd daughter - mother

 Irish naming patterns

 First son after father's father
 Second son after mother's father
 Third son after father
Fourth son after father's oldest brother
Fifth son after mother's oldest brother

First daughter after mother's mother (or father's mother)
Second daughter after father's mother (or mother's mother)
 Third daughter after mother
Fourth daughter after mother's oldest sister
Fifth daughter after father's oldest sister

Apparently Wishaw is in Scotland! - and I can see Scotland on the image ( it is very faint and smudgy ) - so - maybe this is a back burner Donnelly!!
