ATS Uniform Identification

My mother, Joyce Olive Butler [b1922 in Yeiwsley, Middlesex], served in the ATS during WW2. I am looking for her ATS service number but I don`t really know which service she was in and I would like to know more. When she wasn`t driving lorries around she was Sir Winston Churchill`s chauffeur. Would it be possible to identify from the two photos? TIA

ATS was considered part of the ARMY.

Service records are still held by MOD.

In Brief:- If the person is still alive then only they can obtain their records (without charge), their spouse, (or parents if no spouse) can obtain the records also without charge but will need to supply a copy of the person's Death Cert.
For anyone else it will cost £30, a copy of the Death Cert. plus patience.
There is a restriction on the amount of information supplied to non NOK for 25 yrs after date of death.

Just to add that when you apply for your mother's records, you won't need her service number if you give them her exact date of birth (although it's quicker if you can provide both).

She looks delightful; you must be very proud of her

The following probably a coincidence as to name ,   but there is a report of a marriage in Oxted 1948
Joyce Olive Butler to a Kenneth C.
Her father was a policeman Mr W Butler
"The bride was assistant unit commander of the Womans Junior Air Corps Unit 49 (Oxted)"
Probably not your Joyce ,but if so she might have joined the ATS later.
