Hi Mabel,
Thanks for the information about other newspaper articles on Owen Jones as a Deacon. I shall do a search on Welsh newspapers online. It is extraordinary, how much of these ordinary peoples lives was recorded by the local newspaper.
Of course it is frustrating for me with the language barrier! And to make it worse the Welsh side married a Swede here in Australia, so I am always needing to get Swedish translated too! It can be very difficult.

Are you serious?!!! Really?
I have a newspaper article my great grandfather wrote and had published in a Californian Scandinavian paper in the late 1890's. So I believe it would be old Swedish. I would love to know what the gist of it is. It is called Bref fran Australien, but it is quite a long article.
My G grandfather was a Swedish merchant seaman and visited Australia several times before migrating here. He would have lived here close to 15 years when he published this piece. He may have written it earlier.
He did love Australia in the end, but I would love to know what his opinions of it were in the early days.
Please, I would love it if you could provide a run down of the article, but really there is no obligation. It would be a lot of work. You are free to say it is too much and that you can't do it.
