Struggling to find a circa 1873 birth for Richard Wardle Bowey. Found his death (aged 10) in June 1883 Newcastle. He is listed in the 1881 census.

The Elizabeth Bowey who died in 1906 age 66 could be the wife of John the cooper?
Here they are in Westgate in 1901, both aged 60

And a widowed John in 1911 free index

Maybe an outside possibility for Elizabeth, the widow of Matthew, from the free index to 1911? Age is 66
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XWM8-ZD9
(could be Ellizelth Bouey in the alternative index?)

That looks very promising - a widow, right age, and still living in Byker  :D

Yes Jon, I agree your theory about recorded 'Elizabeths' does sound plausible.

I wonder if xinia's friend may have more information of what happened to Elizabeth after Matthew's death?  Or whether this may be a blank at present?

This would be a help.

Hello,
yesterday my friend and I were discussing the wonderful discoveries  you have all found for the Bowey Clan.

We have emailed Bereavement services.

And at some point today she hopes to pop on Roots herself..

As for Elizabeth when we were talking she said all she had was very tentative  -- NO Factual stuff.  So I told her to get to it.  :)  before the gathering..

Maybe when they get together you could pop along and they will say Hi and thanks themselves.

xin

will nag her to find time to get on here.

Jon is right.  The 1906 Elizabeth was the wife of John Bowey according to the newspaper notice I have just looked at.  :-\ Librarian says the burial microfilm (No 1377) has still not turned up either. :-\

I will try to squeeze in a trip to the Archives for you at some point between now and next week.  They will have the microfilm giving exact location of the grave.

I am going to do my best to find this and feel confident that this should be easy once I get to the Archives.

So fear not - we will get the Bowey clan to the right grave eventually. :)
