thanks for all comments and flipping and colouring -  lovely..

I spelt colouring in English so the spell checker is shouting at me!!

.

My Nan and Gramps were married in 1920 -- and that means this could be anything between 1917 and 1920  -  not sure of the occasion..

xin

great restores thank you

A bit later Xin. These hats weren't around 1917-20. Although the lady seated could just about get away with it.
As you probably know tintypes are always reversed as the medium used is what you have.
The positive process didn't produce a negative so you get a mirror image.
Popular with beachfront photographers but pretty much had it's day by this time.
I think I read somewhere that women's coats/bodices were fastened opposite to men's going back to when hooks & eyes were used. Most people being right handed.

Ok Jim :) thanks for that, so you reckon after 1920 -

My Nans first child was born in July 1920 .....  that is why I thought this was pre that date.

I have to find out who the lady sitting down is.

Does it look as if the chair is the property of the Photographer -- or could it be an invalid chair?

cos one of my Aunts was handicapped.

ok thank you
