Hope you don't mind me tossing in my offering here. Also, since the War Department (now the Department of Defense) would have given the photo to the paper, odds are they'd have it on file somewhere. Have you checked the National Archive?

(updated: Added first found record page from the US National Archive)
I just like to do photo restores.

Hello,my name is thomas from Normandy. I'm a Historian and a battlefield tour guide.

Passionate about the Story of 326th AEB, I'm in contact with many relatives of men serving in this unit.

Today I went to Lorraine American Cemetery to pay tribute to Greydon killed near Marvie, Belgium, in December 1944

I will love to talk with you about him and send you the picture I took of his grave. Je (you can see them now on find a grave)

Have a good day

Thomas

I gave this a stab. Pretty tough one. Created layers... had the original "dot" image as top layer. Kept referring back and forth. Would sometimes zoom in and other times... zoom out. Kept comparing back and forth. Again - it was a very difficult endeavor. Calling it quits for now.

It was also unusual in that the original dot image wasn't even a traditional newspaper halftone dot. As someone mentioned... perhaps the US Government might still have an original photo. But of course - that is a long shot.

Peter, she put your restoration on 'Find a Grave'...

Tommy_Battlefield_History had posted that he visited the cemetery, and may have taken photos of the gentleman's grave site. I have taken photos for folks who have specifically requested photos of old graves, that exits in my neck of the woods. I am in a unique position as I live near an old Catholic Cemetery, that ironically my father worked at (as a grave digger) for almost 40 years. Having been there, and walked the grounds thousands of times, I often knew exactly where to go look to fulfill their requests. Especially since many of the sections and lots in the cemetery have old, inaccurate or even lost records of those buried there. Generally, I think people appreciate having the ability to see where their loved ones are resting - especially if they can not easily - or ever - visit them personally. These things can be very private or personal to many. It can also sometimes be a sticky wicket.
