Treacy/Treacey family in NSW
« on: Saturday 09 June 18 00:03 BST (UK) »
I have the following family back in Ireland by 1901 Census having had 6 children born in NSW.
Parents are James Treacy born 1864 Co Limerick Irl Wife Mary Anne Treacy (McGrath) Cannot locate marriage for them in Ireland so I am hoping to locate a ship passenger record for them together or singly also if they married in NSW a record of this.
I have located some of the childrens births registered in Grenfell NSW as follows:
David Treacey 1889, Denis 1890, Mary Kate 1892.  The other children are John T 1894, Patrick 1896, Edmond 1898.

Mary Anne Treacy wife of James & mother of children died in Ireland in 1903.
I am wondering if any of the children would have returned to Australia in adult life as their father died in 1906 in Ireland .

Appreciate any records on this family that can be sourced. Thank you.

John's birth reg at Marsden 1895 (4994/1895) - "John TREACY", parents James and Mary A

Modified to add:
This looks like Patrick:
Patrick TREACY - birth reg Waterloo (17506/1896) - parents Edmond and Mary A

Actually, this is probably not your Patrick - I see there was a marriage of a Edmond TREACY and Mary A LYNCH at Waterloo in 1887.

Oh I don't know what happened just now - I was trying to compose a reply that the Patrick I thought born 1896 was in fact probably not yours, but ended up deleting my original reply with the info about John TREACY born 1895.

Hopefully that hasn't made this thread too confusing!  :-[ :-\

No problem maddys52 I would really like to have a passenger record of James Treacy arriving in Australia if thats possible I cannot locate a marriage for him in Ireland . Also he returned to Ireland with wife & family sometime late 1890's as the family are in Ireland in 1901 census. A sad story really as mother died 1903 & father remarried same year but died in 1906. I think from my search for the children that some of them were in orphanages after fathers death. I am just hoping to get the full picture of what happened to the children. Thank you for your help :)

Hi,

Another James TREACY.

I see in the Police Gazette that there was a Senior Constable James TREACY appointed Acting Clerk of Petty Sessions at Taralga, NSW in May 1879.

Gerry
