Not sure hadn’t heard the name until you mentioned it,how did you see the witness without having the marriage certificate
I presume it was Joseph Robinson’s sister??

The witnesses were viewed from the marriage on the Parish Register?

Keyboard - guess you have access to an online resource which has Leicestershire parish register images unlike Joe and I (they're not on Ancestry, you see...)

Possible death

ROBINSON, JOSEPH
age 29
Q2 1841 LEICESTER UNION  Volume 15  Page 68

Age would work, but raises questions

a) where is he on 1841, unless he died just before it was taken

b) if him, who then is the father of Eliza and also Mary Ann (b1843 - d1844?)

He was buried 3rd June 1841 St Margarets, Leicester aged 29 address Brook Street.

The newspaper notice for the 1841 death for Joseph Robinson also states he was a Frame Work Knitter and died 1st June (census day was 6th June 1841).

Mary Ann was baptised 18 Jun 1843 d/o John & Mary Ann Robinson of Bridge Street.  No occupation for 'John'
Eliza was baptised 22 Jan 1847, illegitimate d/o Mary Ann Robinson of the Union Workhouse

Just to add to the confusion, the burial on 24 Sep 1844 describes Mary Ann as the daughter of Thomas & Mary Robinson of Green Street  :-\

I wasn't sure if that was Mary Ann's death in 1844, but it seemed to fit the birth in 1843 of Mary Ann, mmn Shipman. She could conceivably be alive and elsewhere in 1851

I didn't look any further yesterday, but I think you're correct & it is a different child.  There was a private baptism on 13 Sep 1844 of a Marianne d/o Thomas & Mary Robinson of the same address.
