Hello, I'm looking for more information or a photo of my Great Grandfather J.J.F.Doven, I have a photo of my G Grandmother Margaret Doven who died in Sydney but I can't find a photo of him, i know he went back to England where he passed away, and I don't know why he went back to UK and left his family here.

Did Joseph return before or after her death?

He appears on a few trees on Ancestry; it might be worth contacting the tree owners to ask if they have any photographs.

Hi Daisy,
that is interesting, I didn't know when he left Australia.
that would be him, he was born 1866 London, and died 1925 Epsom Surry UK, and Margaret was born 1870 London and died 1956 NSW Australia.
Just can not find a photo of him, I'm thinking he must of looked something like his sons, Charles, Joseph and Walter, the boys all look much alike.

86 Credon Road, Camberwell is where the family where living for several years prior to going to Australia (electoral registers).  His son Joseph with wife Laura continued to live there for a few years though Joseph senior does not appear on the register there after his return.

I wonder what he was doing in the Epsom area

Hello Rosie,
half way through writing to you and I must of pressed something and as always it finished up in cyber space some.
so we will try again, I was trying to google the address but I think all has changed over the years, as I can't find Creadon road.
as for Epsom he was born there, unless there was family still there, how knows.
may I ask if you are connected to the family?
by the way I'm writing from Australia.
