I can only suggest trying Cambridgeshire Archives, Bedfordshire Archives or the National Archives. Perhaps someone else may have further ideas to point you in the right direction.

FamilySearch have a Non-Conformist baptism of a Joseph Dawson at Bedford on 8 Nov 1829 , son of George & Mary.... maybe ?

Find My Past has the image....
George Dawson was wheelwright of St.Mary's Bedford
On same day they baptised son William born 1827

With regard to George & Mary Dawson, they also had 2 further children with non-conformist (Weslyan) baptisms at Bedford. George was still a wheelwright but now living in St.Johns...
2/10/1831 Emma Elizabeth Dawson born 20/8/1831 - then buried 11/4/1832 age 9 months
5/5/1833 Thomas Dawson born 19/2/1833 - then buried 18/8/1833 age 6 months

There is a burial of George Dawson on 28/11/1833 aged 47 also at Bedford St.Johns.

Going forward to 1851 living at Gwyn Street Bedford...
William Dawson born 1828 Bedford, Journeyman carpenter & wife Mary Ann b 1825 St.Neots & son George b 1851 Bedford, plus widowed mother Mary Dawson born 1804 Biggleswade. Son George was baptised at Bunyan Meeting in Bedford on 18/4/1851.
Seems William Dawson married Mary Stocker in Sept 1849 Bedford District (possible reg office)  it'd be good to look at his marriage cert to see if his father was George, & if so he is most likely brother of Joseph Dawson.

I have not yet found William or his mother Mary on 1841 census.

In 1861 census in Bedford is widow Mary Dawson born 1804 Biggleswade being sister to John Potter & his wife Elizabeth, both age 49. John Potter married Elizabeth Warren 3 Feb/Mar? 1834 in Bedford St.Johns. George Dawson widowed married Mary Warren on 16/17? Jan 1825 at Bedford St.Pauls.
Mary Dawson died 1864 aged 60.

The Bluecoats Hospital is a Bedford (Harpur) Charity run hospital/school for children of widows/paupers --- so perhaps that's why Joseph was there in 1841

Cheers John
