Hi All,

Thanks for your efforts.

The marriage suggested is 20 years before Dinah was born and although by no means impossible its a little unusual.

Paul
I lived in Ardwick, Manchester in the early 1960s as a small child and much travelling of the world has now led me to want to know more about my roots. Carter, Beckwith, Connolly, Heron and Kelly are all names that form part of my family tree.

Not sure what you mean Paul.
That is her parents marriage, we hope, and if you look at the link I gave you, you can see that in 1871 there are children aged a few months to 18yrs.
There are then others from 1871 onwards.

Also it is not unusual to find women in their 40's having children - at any time, not just back then.

It is the right family.

Margaret Elizabeth born 1870 mentioned earlier.
Manchester Catholic Records index shows her as Godmother to Joseph Foley, 1899.
http://mlfhs.org.uk/data/catholic_search.php

Margaret is a servant in Over Darwen in 1891 and in 1901 is living alone in South Manchester and has a Tripe Shop. She marries Walter Derbyshire in 1909.

The nearest I can find is 1891 3175/6

There is a Mary Pendleton 18yrs born Gorton and is a servant at the Kings Arms, Gorton Lane.

I can’t yet see a birth for a Mary Pendleton and Dinah is not with either parent in 1891.

The only way to at least confirm her father's name would be to purchase the marriage certificate.
