Marriage look up please

Please would some kind person do me a look up for Samuel Spring and Abigail Stanley before 1821. Much Appreciated. Thank you. gladys1

There's no marriage on the IGI (www.familysearch.org) or BVRI. Bedfordshire pre 1812 is almost 100% extracted on the IGI.

Where do you want us to do the look up?

Likely parish/ where their children were born would at least give skp something to go on. Have you found them on any census; if so where were they living?

There's no marriage index for Beds other than the IGI.

The only Abigail Stanleys on the IGI in Beds were christened in Westoning. Is this a possibility?

Too much information often produces better results than a minimalist approach.

Hi David i have the census back to 1841.  In the 1851 census Samuel Spring H.M. 66.Chelsea Pensioner. Shopkeeper & Grocer & Farmer born Millbrook.   Abigail Spring W.M. 46 born Westoning. All the children were born Westoning and Hannah Stanley, mother in law Widow 80 proprietor of houses born Bucks Stoke Goldington. I checked the IGIs for Abigail Stanley and found this - Abigail Stanley Birth 6 May 1804 Bap 29 July 1804 Father William Stanley Mother Hannah,  Westoning Bedford.   So that fits in with Abigails age and her mothers name Hannah.   Hope this helps. Hi !!

Have found the birth of Samuel Spring - 31st May 1784 Millbrook, mother and father, Ann and John Spring.

Unfortunately Samuel Spring and Abigail could have married anywhere, it depends where he was serving at the time.  As he was a Chelsea Pensioner, as my grandfather was, you should be able to trace him through the War records in London.  It might well have the date he married his wife and where.  (That's where I found mine).

The National Archives website http://www.catalogue.nationalarchives.gov.uk/search.asp
has a file on Samuel Spring born Milbrook. He served in the 40th Foot Regiment and was discharged in 1815 aged 32. Ref WO97/566/50.

It seems as though he probably married some time after his discharge judging by Abigails birth date, and as Hoppity says, they could have got married anywhere,  but I favour Westoning, where marriages have only been extracted onto the IGI up to 1812. I would check the microfilm of the parish register at your nearest LDS Family History Centre. Westoning and Milbrook are only 5 miles apart.

Not sure about Ann Pedder as John and Ann were married in Millbrook on 2.6.1777?

Unfortunately the parish registers are not good at giving you the wife's maiden names. 

She was obviously born in Millbrook on 23.4.1756 - parents John and Elizabeth.
