Transcribed as Sooby and Edward is ‘Dford’ so no wonder!

One baptism shows a sponsor as William Looby and he and his family look to move to Birkenhead. He is a Boot and Shoe maker and somewhere, I think I saw John Looby with a similar occupation 

It is all speculation though but the children’s names fit.

The children are born Manchester and parents William and Catherine.

thank you all so much for your help. i have gone through all records and it looks like a pretty good bet that these are my looby's

My search goes on for my great grandmothers family.
After finding other relatives who all knew Mary, they all say that her father was scottish but that s all anyone knew. So i went back to the census search who Haywood kindly looked into for me. the John Fraser who was listed on the 1901 census at the time was indeed married but most important he was scottish. I suppose we will never really know if this is my John fraser, but this is very possible.

I then went into the records for Margarets parents; John Looby and Mary Slattery. Both born in Ireland, married in Liverpool but John died in 1876 age 40 just a year after Margaret was born.

Mary then returned to Ireland with her children.

This is where the records go cold. Although I have the english census records for the Looby's in Liverpool, the marriage record and all of the children birth records, I just cannot find the birth records for John and Mary.

I have scrolled through the micro film records but just cannot find them.

I wonder if any of you eagle eyes fellows can help in any way? Thank You

Scrolled through what microfilm? Civil registration of births in Ireland started in 1864 so there will be no birth certificates before that date.

You will have their fathers’ names from their marriage records which may help to trace them.
