William Richards - Llandilofawr ?
« on: Wednesday 22 August 18 13:17 BST (UK) »
Hi, I'm looking to confirm a birth and marriage for William Richards from Llandilofawr. He was the father of John Richards (shoemaker), and the grandfather of William Richards (b1867). John Richards married Mary Thomas in 1865. It states on John and Mary's wedding cert that William was a farmer. They seemed to be located around Carmarthenshire. I think John Richards was born in possibly 1842 but not certain yet. I cant find anything definitive on FindMyPast, wondering if someone would have a look for me on anc please. I'm looking for that one piece of evidence that ties William, John and William jr together. As always thanks again in advance - richard

hi, no problem,
1871, John and Mary living in Lowy Terrace, llandilofawr, Carms with children William Henry, Mary Ane and an apprentice John Davies.

1861, John is a boarder with William and Jane Evans at Margaret st , Aberdare, Merthyr Tydfil (I know this due to occupation as a shoemaker)

These 2 census are as close to 100% accurate as I can be. I can't find a census thats puts John and William together.

ref for 1871 is RG10/5486 folio 10 pg 14. Transcription on FindMyPast says Lowy but I suspect that it's Towy Terrace.

Hi Osprey, sorry I've been out so missed all your messages, that's a lot of info, absolutely brilliant, yes you are correct it is Towy Terrace. Harries ?? that's interesting, I came across that name recently whilst going through records, will have to dig it out again. Thanks again, really helpful - Richard
