I am trying to prove (or disprove) a link for J TAYLOR on the Fenny Stratford/Bletchley War Memorial.
"Soldiers Died In The Great War" has Pte 17805 John Taylor, 14th Bn Worcs Regt born Maidstone Kent, resident Bletchley, enlisted Malvern. CWGC confirms death on 22 Oct 1917 but no mention of kin. The Register of Soldiers' Effects give John's legatee as sister Edith E.
This led me to a likely TAYLOR family on the 1901 census: 64 Old Road, Linslade, Bucks
William, head, 50 born Marden Kent; Annie, wife, 40, born Fenny Stratford; John Thomas, son, 8, born Stroud Kent; Edith Emily, daughter, 7, born Marden Kent; Mabel Grace, daughter, 5, born Linslade, Bucks; Arthur Ernest, son, 1, born Bedford.
The GRO index confirms the mother's maiden name for all children to be WATTS - leading to a marriage Mar qtr 1886 Maidstone Kent TAYLOR William & WATTS Annie.
There are possible deaths: Sep qtr 1904 Newport Pagnell THOMAS Annie age 44; Sep qtr 1922 Newport Pagnell THOMAS William age 71
And there, I get stuck! I haven't managed to find the family on the 1911 census (not even just using children's first names). I haven't found a newspaper obituary for John, Annie or William. Electoral Rolls have many William TAYLORs in Buckinghamshire, but there is no way to prove the correct one.
Can anyone help me find where the family were between 1901 and 1918?
Many thanks
Philip
