There's a possible 1929 marriage in Yorkshire which gives his father as Thomas Hooper, mining official, deceased.

There is an WW1 RAF record for Fred Eric Hooper , civilian occupation craneman and electrician, aged 23 years and 1 month on 16.5.17.  It appears to show transfer from the army , but I'm having difficulty understanding it  . It names his next of kin as his mother , again I'm having difficulty ; ? Amy Hooper  of 24 Low ( possibly Tow ) Lane End ,  Hetton Downs  , Co  Durham.

The address is Four Lane Ends. It's on the service record for James Hooper b 1895 Hetton le Hole 11749 Yorkshire Regiment - James A Hooper in the 1901 census ?

The OP appears to have ruled this family out as she has dismissed Fred E Hooper of the RAF record, even though the birth year and civilian occupation is correct, on the basis of the name being given as Fred Eric , rather than Frederick Eric. ( See her reply #16 ). Not sure I agree , but there you go.

That’s odd, but never mind I’m enjoying myself, Christine. 😉

Fred is the shortened form of Frederick after all and the Charlotte says that her mother has Rose as one of her middle names. I wouldn’t be discounting the above family, yet.

Added: Charlotte, note that Thomas is a miner on the censuses provided and Frederick has his father down as mining official at time of his marriage.
