Forget all that I found about Thomas Brady in Liverpool then …

How about:

1851
Samlesbury
Henry Haydock 52 widower farmer
Hugh 20
Henry 19
Thomas 16
William 12

In 1861 the children are described as step sons - so a second marriage involved somewhere
No, sorry cancel that, it is his grandchildren that are step children, not his children!!

Here is that family in 1841

SAlmesbury,
Walton le Dale Blackburn
Henry 40 farmer
Ann 20
John 14
Hugh 12
Henry 9
Thomas 7
William 2

on the same page are a Thomas Haydock and family and a John Haydock and family.

None have a Francis with them.

Like you I am not sure at this stage that this Henry is the man named as Francis's father. But the Salmesury link means that we may be getting nearer.

Haydock/Heydock  surname was common in the area. Occasionally Haddock.  Henry was a common forename. Also several entries for Hugh in Salmesbury parish registers.
Liz has amended her post about stepsons, so no indication of 2nd marriage for Henry.
Occupation of engineer may indicate mobility. The Henry who was father of Francis may have left Salmesbury and  perhaps Lancashire and even England. He may have died by 1851 census.

In that case I suggest you take a break from searching, write down what has been found with lists of possibilities and questions, then leave it alone and let thing settle in your mind for a bit.
