The 2nd Battalion of 45th Foot served in Montevideo in 1846. Per John Ellis' army record he was there for 10 months. and in the Cape of Good Hope for 6 months (also nearly 12 years in the East Indies and nearly 2 years in Gibraltar).

I can't see a record of the children's births.

ShaunJ .. do you have any info on john nason ... same regiment and time period.

my 3gtgruncle Private Thomas Bushell 1820-1882 atteseted 1838 diischarged 1860 service no: 1554 served abroad in the 45th foot he was in Gibralter 1y 9m Montevidio 10m Cape of Good Hope 12y 10m
