Thank you - I finally received a reply from Norse to confirm that they have the registers. I have asked if there is anyway that copies could be provided, or whether I could spend time in the cemeteries office to enter them onto a database?  I'll let you know if I get a response! (I'm an archivist and have spent my life working with records such as these).  Do you think it would be worth submitting an FoI request to Wellingborough to see if that unearths a map?  Norse also didn't seem to think that there was any record of monumental inscriptions which I would dearly love to get transcribed to (when I was at York City Archives there was a very active cemeteries group that did inscriptions so may ask for their advice. Has anyone been to Northamptonshire archives or contacted them to see what they hold?  Their catalogue doesn't throw up much.

Hi Alison.

Thanks for the background to your previous work, sounds excellent.

Anyway some cemeteries charge for looking up information from the registers
in Northamptonshire. I do not think Wellingborough would allow what you wish
to do as I know Melody at Wellingborough Museum (I don't think she is there know)
tried to get access to them. I think it is to do with copyright. I hope you are more successful.

I was doing a war project awhile ago and some cemetery offices allowed me access to view
the original burial books.

Northamptonshire Family History Society have a list of M.I. (they are an excellent resource)
although they do not cover many cemeteries.

In Northants you often have to get permission from the Vicar, Cemetery Office
to be able to record the inscriptions.

I myself have gone around many Northants Church's, Cemeteries taking photo's of graves.
I am too old now  :)

Let us know how you get on please.

Hi Sandy,

I've just noticed this thread and wondered whether you could check your list for a William Green b1826 - d1890 if possible. I know he died in Wellingborough but don't know where he is buried.

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi Ally.

How have you got on with the Wellingborough Cemetery Office re: the grave plan and burial register.

I hope it was good news.
