Birth in Workhouse Llanfihangel y Traethau
« on: Thursday 11 August 05 13:12 BST (UK) »
Wondered if anyone could contribute any suggestions with my brick wall?

My husband's grandfather called Penrhyn PARK was born in the Llanfihangel y thaethau workhouse in 1894. The mother's name is Lydia PARK, a charwoman of Holyhead ,  widow of John Park.

The father's name is not mentioned >:(

I can't find any marriages for them or a death for John Park anywhere.
I have no knowledge of Lydia's maiden name. All I know is that she was born approx 1868 at Mold. She appears as married on the 1901 census in West Yorkshire with Penrhyn and two other men called Park from Ireland (not called John!)

I asked Merionethshire archives to search all the workhouse related stuff, but drew a blank

Penrhyn's marriage certificate mentions his father as John Edward Park, deceased, a domestic groom.

I would love to try and find out more about them but getting nowhere.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for reading this (long) post!

Hi Catherine

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I do have the birth certificate but unfortunately the only name given for the mother is "Lydia Park, widow of John Park."
There is no maiden name given, so I am uncertain as to weather Park is her maiden name, or married name, if she did marry, or if there's any other explaination.

Best regards
Debbie
