Tracing Allen Hedley's parents

Hi,
I am trying to trace the parents of Allen Hedley.  Born in the parish of Elsdon Northumberland about 1781 according to his military record but his burial record states his birth about 1778.

He served in the Royal Regiment of Artillery from 1803 until 1825.  He married a widow Priscilla Haswell (Nee Goodman) in 1825 in Trinidad, West Indies and died in an accident at Woolwich Arsenal in1843.  I have tried through Ancestry, Find my Past and a visit to Northumberland Archives at Woodhorn to find his baptism record but have drawn blank.
I have been stuck on this now for months so if anyone can help or suggest a way forward I would be very grateful.

There is a record on FamilySearch for a marriage in Elsdon between an Allen Hedley and Margaret  Charleton on 12th June 1783.
It's not the most common name in the world, so these could possibly be his parents.
If so, the son would have been born before the marriage and I wonder if he could be baptised as a Charleton. 
(A bit of a long shot, but you never know!)

That's a great lead, many thanks.  I suspected that Allen Hedley was probably married before his marriage to Priscilla but I couldn't find any evidence of that.

Free Reg has record of a marriage between Allen Hedley (of Elsdon) and Elisabeth/Isable Robson on 20 June 1771 at  St Michael and All Angels, Alwinton

Many thanks for that.  I had not known about Free Reg so I went into it and put in Allen Hedley, the year 1771 and subject as "marriage" and nothing was found.  I did the same with Elisabeth Robson and received the same answer.  I'm obviously doing something wrong.  I will try finding that marriage elsewhere.  Thanks for finding the information though, it could prove to be the way forward.

Did you make sure you put surname first, followed by Christian name?

I think I found Allan in 1841 in Woolwich with his family.

Elizabeth Hedley       F    13    Kent
John Hedley       M    7    Kent

William and Elizabeth, along with another child Thomas appear in the Non-conformist baptism records which suggests that Allen may also have been non-conformist.

William James (son of Allen Hedley) bapt.  1822
Thomas  (son of Allen Hedley)  bapt. 1823
Elizabeth (daughter of Allen Hedley) bapt. 1827
All baptized in Woolwich.

(If you are right about the marriage date, then the first two children were either illegitimate or not Priscilla's. 45 or so would be quite old for a first marriage)

Did you specify the county as Northumberland?

I just looked and specified marriages,  county Northumberland, surname  Hedley  and the year range as 1771 -1771 and it came up

Note: it says Elizabeth in the Bishops Transcripts and Isable in a 'transcription' but doesn't say what the source of the transcription is.
