Sorry to resurrect an old thread. Harriet was married to a 4 x gt granduncle of mine (George West Jarvis). If you don't mind me asking, what's your relationship to her?

Hi,

George West Jarvis and Harriet Tilley are my 3 x great grandparents.

Which sibling of George West Jarvis are you you descended from?

As I recall, Jarvis Lane, East Brent was the home of the famous genealogist Don Steel for many years.

I have both John and Mary Jarvis/Jervis and all their offspring in my tree.

Have you taken a dna test?

Hi Watson,

That's interesting.  I wonder whereabouts on the Lane he lived and how close it is to the Jarvis home, although it seems the family moved to Brent Knoll to bring up their family.  I am not familiar with East Brent but Google street map is very good at filling in the gaps allowing one to wander up and down the lanes.

Don lived in a house called "Brooking".  I don't remember the geography, but I think his was a few houses on the left after entering Jarvis Lane.

Yes I have my test up on Ancestry linked to my tree. Managed to find a match on Jarvis descendents in the USA

Jarvis Lane has a farm (it has guest cottages) once owned by the Jarvis family. I stayed there many years ago. It's still owned by relatives, but from memory they are descendents of the family that married the Jarvis ancestor
