Thank you "rosie99" and others and well researched about both 1861 Census entries.    He was received in Parkhurst Prison on 23/02/1861 so the reference is correct.....the pity with prison entries is invariably initials are used and there is no way of confirming "MALINS" or "MALIN".   His convict records are specifically "MALINS".

However, you have provided sufficient new details for me to fossick anew among the Indexes 8)

"Cas" and the 1871 Census opens a new avenue as it appears Edward Junior is now a Widower, so hunting marriage details and births of two children my next task.
